A list of reasons why I can’t seem to read enough:

my lightbulb is burnt to a crisp,

the ceiling is mesmerizing,

who is screaming in the street,

won’t they just shut up already, are you okay?

I want to go home,

the library is closed on Mondays,

I can’t find a book I like, only opening chapters to be endured and then discarded,

I am endured and then discarded,

what was that author’s name again?

best spend 40 hours googling and still not finding,

ring, ring, it’s a scam caller, would you like my mother’s maiden name? Yes, it is spelled with a G,

Eureka! I found a book I love! The words are angel wings dancing along my retinas,

if I keep reading, it will soon be over,

the obvious solution is to not read but hold it, keep it under my pillow, let the incantations within soak my sleeping brain,

it will not soak, it indexes.
